Three Years

You guys! As of tomorrow, June 5, C and I have been married for three years. THREE YEARS. Time seriously flies when you're having fun. Our wedding day is still my favorite day that I have ever lived. It was magical and perfect and everything I ever dreamed it would be. Every day since isn't always quite that magical, but that's what we have each other for! To lean on and encourage when times are tough and to celebrate and laugh with when times are swell.

In our three years of marriage (and 6.5 years of being together) I've grown to be so grateful to have a husband who enjoys the same things as me and who has the same long term goals as me. We have the same overall opinions and beliefs on the important stuff, but we are able to balance each other out on the not-so-important stuff. We've learned how to communicate and how to fight, when to leave each other alone and when to go full speed ahead. Marriage is work and it takes time and effort, but it is the best thing ever to have your favorite person by your side. This year was filled with travel and adventure - one of our favorite things! I'm not sure if I enjoy the planning and anticipation or the actual vacations more. Of course, life threw a few curveballs like unexpected surgeries, doggy + human health issues and home repairs, but that's just how it goes. You take the good times with the bad and make it through hand in hand.

To celebrate our anniversary, we went to Santa Fe for a little weekend getaway. We will have our annual brunch date this weekend (we're going to try Flint this year) and of course, there will be patio cocktails and Roxy's Ice Cream for dessert - it has become tradition because we had their truck come to our wedding in lieu of a groom's cake. Our Sunday Funday Anniversary Date is something I look forward to for months and months! Spending a full day enjoying our favorite things, just the two of us, makes it such a special and memorable time. Plus, I like an excuse to get dressed up...obviously!

Every year on our anniversary I've posted a questionnaire as a quick glimpse into what we were up to that year. You can read year one here and year two here. It is always fun to look back on these (kind of like New Years posts) and see what has changed and what has stayed the same. Filling these out is surprisingly difficult.....I guess I have a worse memory than I thought because I had to think long and hard!

Things We Did
We traveled the world - literally! We crossed the pond and toured Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London, had a full English breakfast and afternoon tea. We road the Chunnel to Paris and ate too many macaroons, crepes and croissants while climbing the steps of the Eiffel Tower and the Sacre Coeur. We threw coins in the Trevi Fountain, drank rosé on Roman rooftops, gobbled up pasta and shopped at Gucci on the Via Condotti. We explored the Colosseum, Roman Forum and the Vatican. We staycationed in Oklahoma City and then spent a crisp fall weekend in Arkansas with my family. We found out Kylo had elbow dysplasia (but don't worry, we are managing it well). We carved pumpkins and dressed up as Oops I Did it Again Britney Spears and Chief Kevin Garvey for Halloween. Cole became a great photographer / insta-hubby. We spent a weekend in Austin with friends and drank our way down Raney Street. We got our first real Christmas tree and put up lights and wreaths on our house! C nursed me through a shoulder surgery. We jumped back on the Macro counting train. We flew to LA and made a Louis Vuitton purchase on Rodeo Drive. We visited Denver, hiked in Boulder, drank local brews and ate our hearts out. We headed south to New Orleans and fell in love with the city's history and charm (and the beignets). We hiked the Wichita Mountains in our own state (yes, there are tiny little mountains in Oklahoma). We stood by some of our best friends as they said "I Do," and hosted a wedding party brunch for them. We spent Memorial Day in Santa Fe, hiked at Tent Rocks, sampled green chile everything and enjoyed our favorite/most expensive hobby, traveling. What a great year it was!

Is that seriously the only movie we saw in theaters in a year? It is the only one we can remember!

AW Photography asked to model for some bridal portraits for her portfolio and we are shooting them tonight! It seemed fitting and special to do it right at our anniversary! I'm so I'm excited to get my hair and makeup done and put my wedding dress on again....almost like reliving it three years later. You will have to follow her on Instagram to see how they turn out.

Happy Anniversary, man. Thanks for being my travel buddy, putting up with my crazy, cooking all my meals and helping me follow my dreams.....even though my biggest dream already came true when I met you. Awww.
