When you can't vacation....staycation! Pre-pandemic, C and I used to travel pretty regularly. It really became a part of our lifestyle, so during the last year it almost felt like something was missing. Without having a getaway to plan or a trip to look forward to, our weekends started to feel a bit monotonous. Sometimes, though, it's not so much the destination of a trip but the act of getting out of your routine and doing something different. Insert: an OKC staycation!
We had such a great time at the new Omni Oklahoma City a few weekends back and came away feeling refreshed and re-inspired. It is always fun to be a tourist in your own city! I wanted to recap our experience here for locals that may be looking to staycation or for anyone planning a visit to OKC and needing a hotel. OKC is just a quick road trip from Northwest Arkansas, North Texas, Kansas City or pretty much anywhere in Oklahoma, and the Omni makes a fabulous home base.

Amenities
Omni Oklahoma City has a self care option for everyone! Whether you want to pamper yourself, do some retail therapy, sweat your stress away or relax by the pool...whatever your mind and body needs, Omni's got it.
- Mokara Spa - we didn't have time to hit up the spa, but wow it looked incredible! They offer full body spa services including facials, massages, manis, pedis, body treatments and more.
- Rooftop Pool - what a view! The third floor rooftop overlooks Scissortail Park and boasts private cabanas, a heated pool, a hot tub and an outdoor fireplace. Yes, I dipped my toes in the water and it was really warm... like soothing bathwater! There is also a poolside bar that wasn't open yet but looked amazing. I can't wait to go back in the summer!
- Fitness Center - no lie, this is the best hotel gym I've ever laid eyes on. I wish I could workout here every day! It's the type of gym that makes you WANT to workout. They have EVERYTHING a fitness junkie could want including multiple Peloton bikes, rowers, treadmills, stair machines, ellipticals, kettlebells, dumbbells, weight machines, a box for box jumps or step ups, yoga mats, slam balls....the list goes on! The entire gym overlooks the Chesapeake Energy Arena...not a bad cardio view. You can pretend you're training for a Thunder game!
- Boutique Gift Shop - the gift shop is hidden at the south side entrance to the Omni (across from the coffee shop) and has the cutest local/locally inspired gifts and trinkets. I'm going to have to remember this cute little store the next time I need an OKC themed gift for a friend or family member!

Dining
The Omni will eventually have seven culinary concepts! Some are not currently open, but they all look and sound amazing. We're definitely going back to try Bob's Steakhouse for our next special occasion dinner, their menu had my mouth watering. I like that you don't have to be a hotel guest in order to eat at their restaurants. We tried the following:
- Basin Bar - this stylish lobby bar is the perfect place for a pre-dinner drink or a night cap. I recommend the Grapefruit Blossom, it's so refreshing! I will for sure be coming back here with the girls for an upscale night on the town.
- OKC Tap House - a great sports bar and live music venue. They even have Skee-Ball and Foosball! We split a pizza (yum) and 10/10 recommend the Charred Octo appetizer topped with hummus, and street corn.
- Park Grounds - I'm a sucker for a cute coffee shop! Park Grounds is located on Robinson Avenue and overlooks Scissortale Park. The ambiance had me feeling like I was in a huge city! Their coffee was phenomenal and I really enjoyed the Pecan Smoked Bacon, Egg & Cheese sandwich and the apple fritter. Gotta go back to try more pastries, cookies and their locally sourced ice cream! I liked that the food was all was grab and go, for convenience on busy mornings.

Our Room
We stayed in a Premier King Bed room on the 16th floor and had the most glamorous view of the OKC skyline! I loved the floor to ceiling window - it made such a statement! The room was perfect for two people and had plenty of space. The bed was super comfy and topped with luxury sheets, we slept so good. A few things that really stood out to me were:
- The couch! I hate when hotel rooms don't have a chair or couch to sit on. It grosses me out when the only option is to sit on the bed....is that weird? I just don't like my daytime germs to be all over where I sleep. I appreciated that it wasn't your typical hotel room furniture, either, it was something I'd pick out for my own house.
- The coffee! Each room at the Omni has a Keurig Coffee maker with Stance Coffee pods. Most hotel room coffee is pretty subpar, but the Stance pods were something I would buy and drink at home. I'm a major coffee snob, so that's saying something.
- The toiletries! I love when a hotel has quality toiletries that I actually want to use. The Omni had Nest brand shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion. I especially loved that they had full size containers in the shower so you don't have to worry about running out or rationing a small container between two people.
