Brunch at Buttermilk Biscuits
Wednesday, May 9, 2018
We have a small problem occurring in Oklahoma City right now - too many new restaurants, not enough time....or money or macros. Buttermilk in the Paseo district has been on my to-try list since before they even opened. I'm such a sucker for biscuits! We finally found the time to check it out last Saturday for brunch and I'm so glad we did. The weather was absolutely glorious so we sat on the patio - always a plus!
Buttermilk is a order at the counter and take a table number type of restaurant meaning it is quick and casual. It was SUPER crowded (kids and babies galore) but we didn't have to wait very long for our food. One hold up was that the cashier was also the bartender for mimosas and bloodies - it wasn't really an issue, but I think relieving the cashier of drink duty could really speed up the line process.
I ordered the Chicken Honey Biscuit with a mimosa. It was soooooo good! The fried chicken had a pepper flavor to the batter which I loved. I wish there would have been a bit more honey and pickle, though. The mimosa was HUGE - a-OK by me. I've had similar sandwiches before, but Buttermilk made sure they did it right and packed it with fresh, quality ingredients.
C ordered the Ham & Havarti Biscuit with a bloody. I'm not a bloody mary fan, but he said it was very fresh (made with fresh pressed tomatoes) and it was just as massive as my mimosa. I tried his biscuit and LOVED it. You can't go wrong with havarti in my opinion! The sandwich was topped with a maple mustard and YUM... I had never tasted a combo quite like it. A winning combo, for sure.
We split the Biscuit Mini plate for dessert; we got Blueberry, Cinnamon Toast and Banana Nut. We were pretty disappointed with these. I mean, they were OK, but they didn't really have much flavor. We couldn't even distinguish which was which. I'd say save your pennies for something else like hash brown bites or another beverage.
All of their biscuit sandwiches sound amaaaazing so I will be going back to try more! I saw someone else order the smoothie bowl and it piqued my interest, as well. I'm so happy that OKC's restaurant scene is popping.....where should I try next??
